Quote of the Day

Sweetest Lord, make me appreciative of the dignity of my high vocation, and its many responsibilities. Never permit me to disgrace it by giving way to coldness, unkindness, or impatience. ~ Mother Teresa

bread oven

We (the children and I) have been baking with a bread-oven for, oh, ten whole days now, so that makes us experts, right?

Here is the sum total of my bread-oven knowledge.

Any heavy oven-safe pot with lid should work. I used my Chantal Enamel-On-Steel Soup Pot and that worked fine.

Then I found a Lodge Logic 10-Quart Deep Camp Dutch Oven with Iron Lid at a garage sale (for $12.50 WHOOOT!) and I've been using that ever since.

I would think that any good dutch oven with a tight-fitting lid would do the job.

I don't clean it between bakings, just let a nice crust of burnt flour build up on the bottom of the pot.

If you try baking with a bread-oven, please share your learnings. So far, I'm really enjoying mine.
