Quote of the Day

The provision of the Constitution giving the war-making power to Congress was dictated, as I understand it, by the following reasons. Kings had always been involving and impoverishing their people in wars, pretending generally, if not always, that the good of the people was the object. This, our Convention understood to be the most oppressive of all Kingly oppressions; and they resolved to so frame the Constitution that no one man should hold the power of bringing this oppression upon us. ~ Abraham Lincoln (1809 - 1865)

Shiny Red KitchenAid Stand Mixer

Isn't it a beaut? Tis an early birthday present from my Mom: a KitchenAid KSM150PSAC Artisan Series 5-Quart Mixer. I am so weary of buying and replacing cheap poor-quality kitchen appliances. I am now either doing without or holding out for something that will last. I want this to be my last new mixer.

edited to add that Mom did not spend the gazillion dollars on it that Amazon lists; she got it with her creditcard points for free. The frugal gene that runs in my family had to have this clarified.
