approval at last

Do you do this? Pretend you don't care if someone approves of you or not in order to hide the fact that you desparately crave their approval? The other evening, my sister rather off-handedly remarked that I turned out okay. I've been savoring it hourly ever since.

Oh, I think we all desire to be loved and appreciated. How sad that so many of us don't hear the words that our hearts long for from those we love. Perhaps, we could make more of an effort to reach out to those in our lives, or those who we just 'bump' into in our days...and bless them with words of encouragement and kindness. It is so easy and can really build up someone else.

Glad your heart is full!

Your new blog look is nice, I really like it!

Okay Suzanne;

I am not sure if my other comment got posted or not...as it keeps telling me the comment key failed (?) anyhow, I will say it twice...your blog looks lovely...love the little changes you've made, very bright and cheery.

And yes, it is nice to hear kind words that our hearts long for from those we care about. May your heart continue to be full and may each of us take the time and effort to bless 'others' in our lives with words of love and encouragement. We (you and me) might just make someone's day. A full heart is such a blessing, to have and to give.

Here I chatter about books, parenting, election 2008, recipes, teaching college writing, and the adventures of getting settled in with our two freshly (Fall 06) adopted school-age children from Russia. This blog is chapter two; chapter one is posted at Jamie & Suzanne go to Russia. I live in the City of Subdued Excitement, Cascadia, Land of the Free.

I am the wife of a man I call My Gift from a Generous God. I am mama to two lovely children, Dandy and Chickadee that became ours in September 2006 in a court-room in Siberia. I am the daughter of two people whom I love and admire. One of them, my dad, is a new (Dec 06) paraplegic.

In my previous life (B.C. - before children), I was a college English teacher, specializing in composition and ESL composition.
