American Girl doll clothes sizes

Okay, do you remember back in January as we launched the Great Dolly Hunt? Our hunt was fruitful and the long-awaited dolly will be joining our family next month in honor of Chickadee's 7th birthday.

My question for you is, does anyone happen to know what size of people clothes does an 18 inch dolly wear. Or, if you happen to have and 18 inch kid, what size clothes does she wear? I want to start collecting dolly's wardrobe at garage sales now.

Found these measurements for you:

Here are the approximate measurements of our American Girl models
Height: 18"
Legs (crotch to floor): 7"
Waist: 11"
Shoulder to wrist: 5.5"

I know that eBay has loads of AG clothes. And, I also know that not all 18" doll clothes will fit her. Most people clothes, I'd guess, would not fit well. Those AG are slim.

So, I didn't really answer your question...but I've already gotten some bitty baby clothes for d2b! We'll get bitty baby once I can match hair and eye color. They're great dolls!

Hi Suzanne, I recently made my niece a dress for her AG doll. I don't think it corresponds to people clothing (or maybe I don't understand the question.)

Now that you have this on your mind, you will see 18" doll clothing EVERYWHERE.(walmart, target, any toy store). Also there are some great websites that sell the clothing and the matching girl dresses much cheaper than AG. As a matter of fact, our Fred Meyer had Easter dresses that came wtih an 18" doll!

And the patterns are rather simple if you sew.

Have fun! I hear my girl will be getting Samantha from Gma for birthday.

Hi there - you can find more economical AG clothes and accessories online. There are several sites out there. I offer the clothes myself if you're interested (http://www.dollsclothes-emilyrose.com/). Lisa
